This was my first surfing experience! I have to say it was amazing, I was really honestly surfing on my 2nd wave! Kaleo was very knowledgeable in how to show me what to do. We did have to reschedule because the day I was to surf the waves were to big and dangerous for a beginner. I really appreciated his concern for my safety. Anyone who is looking to check surfing off your bucket list, this is your guy! So glad I chose him! I will be scheduling with him next time I am here. Mahalo!!

My first time surfing and such an amazing experience!!!! I felt totally safe the entire time. Kaleo was truly professional, kind, fun and encouraging!!! I felt so excited to succeed but never afraid to fail or fall. Literally couldn't have asked for a better first experience. Can't wait to try again!!

The guys from Ohana Surf Lessons made us feel comfortable on our first surf trip ever. They guided us to a successful day where four of four were able to get up on the board and have a blast. Positive vibes and a local down to earth attitude made it to where I will use them again in the future! It was a very authentic experience.

Kaleo was awesome! It was my first time surfing and my first time in Hawaii and he made me feel super comfortable! It was me and my three friends, all girls in their 20s, we all got to catch some waves and get the full experience. Really a day to remember! Kaleo was quick to suggest all the best places to eat and good boat tours to enhance our stay here on the Big Island. 10/10 would surf again!

Owner/ head instructor Kaleo was awesome! Highly recommend Ohana surf school. I've had surf lessons a few times before, but nothing really clicked until this lesson. Big plus for onshore/ theory portion kept to a minimum, and 90% of the lesson takes place in the water. Yesterday's conditions were challenging (but manageable), and Kaleo included water safety/ wave handling as part of the training. Unrelated, shout out to the top quality boards students use at Ohana school (very few dings!). Unfortunately surfing is one of those things you just need to do, to get right. I feel like I am now well equip to try and catch my own wave. Cannot wait to get out there again. Mahalo!

My kids aged 14 and 11 took their surf lessons with Kaleo and he was an amazing coach! They were both first time surfers and Kaleo was both responsible and patient with them. He was professional from the very start - communicating with me on the class and location, we didn’t need to bring any equipment, everything down to booties and jackets and even cold drinks were provided. His teaching technique was excellent and kids were up on their boards on the first day. Both kids enjoyed the experience so much they did another 2 days of lessons with him until we left the island! He was that much fun! I highly recommend him for surf lessons! Look no further! His charges are also very reasonable for the quality that you get.
